Laptop Battery Life

Laptop battery life can be affected by many factors; one of them could be improper power settings. Every laptop has energy saving mode and it is sensible to check your computer power settings. Most laptop’s windows are created with two power schemes, the first power scheme minimizes power consumption and save your battery, along with it system’s speed is not sacrificed because it adjusts the processing needs. Other is Max Battery power scheme, it minimizes power, but do not adjust to maintain processing demands. So, your Max Battery should be used when minimum processing is required, like taking notes in a meeting or reading documents.

To maximize laptop battery life it would be rational to keep few programs open and avoid those programs which slow down your laptop’s speed. If fact, some programs load slower because they need more system resources than the other. Even programs running at the background waste precious battery of your laptop. So please avoid such drain of battery. Next thing to be recommended is that uninstall unwanted programs. Another gentle approach to your laptop could be that don’t play your video or DVD or quick game while you are sending emails or reading or writing, because these are high drainer of battery and reduces productivity drastically.

Adjusting laptop’s screen brightness also brings massive difference in power consumption. Try to turn down the brightness of your screen at the lowest possible level. Your notebook has various types of useful features which can help you in different tasks, but it would be a wise step to disable built-in hardware features not required. Such as, if there is no wireless connection you don’t need Bluetooth or wi-fi turned on. These built-in components if disabled can help save power. Be sincere about the peripherals too. Unplug PCMCIA devices, USB devices and any other crazy component you have plugged in, because while interacting with them your system uses power.

Another basic tip, use power saving features instead of standby mode because power is used by the other. One more fundamental point to remember is that always keep on monitoring the operating temperature. If the operating temperature range is not within its standard your battery becomes less efficient than normal. So it is advisable to power the machine off if it’s sweltering, in long run it will have more power. To save battery usage a better tip could be to plug the adaptor into the wall, but best advice would be to prioritize hardware and tasks during power shortage. Last but not the least, be careful while removing the battery, don’t forget to turn off your laptop or be ready to experience a shock. Touch the chassis to get rid of any residual static electricity.
